FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

HOW LONG DOES A MIX USUALLY TAKE?

Depends on how busy Ty Danelley is at any given time, but on average usually 7 days. If more or less we'll let you know.

IS MY MIX INCLUDED IN THE RECORDING PRICE?

No, at the end of your recording session you will receive a rough mp3 version of your song. Professional mixing and mastering is separate. (rates can be found on the 'Mixing & Mastering page)

HOW SHOULD I SEND MY FILES FOR MIXING AND MASTERING?

All files should be sent in WAV format. Vocals should have NO effects on them. Beat files can be left exactly how you have them with effects. If you recorded in Pro Tools you can also just send me the entire Pro Tools session.

I'M IN A RUSH, IS IT POSSIBLE TO GET FASTER RETURN TIME?

Yes, it is possible, but it comes with an additional fee. What ever mixing/mastering rate you chose there will be an additional $60 fee. However, you get bumped to the front of the list and will receive the song back within roughly 48 hours.

CAN YOU MIX THE SONG WITH ME BEING THERE?

Generally, Ty Danelley is very busy and does the mixing and mastering process on his own. Having the client present usually slows down the process. However, Ty will always get an understanding of the direction the artist is trying to go with the song before diving into it. He also always open to making revisions once the mix has been sent.

WILL THE QUALITY OF THE MIX STILL SOUND PROFESSIONAL IF I RECORD IT ON MY OWN?

This gets a yes and no response. A lot of people prefer to record on their own using their own home setup. So if your home setup quality is good, then yes it will translate to a good mix. However, if the tone of the room you're recording in is bad, or the quality of your microphone isn't as good, then the mix might not sound totally 100%. It will still be cleaned up to its full potential, but might not sound as good as something recording at Ty Danelley's studio.

WILL THERE BE AN ADDITIONAL CHARGE FOR A CLEAN VERSION?

Risk Engineering now provides full DJ packages with every mixing and mastering rate. DJ packs include: original song, clean version, acapella, clean acapella, beat, and performance version.

HOW MUCH NOTICE DO I HAVE TO GIVE TO BOOK A RECORDING SESSION?

As much notice as possible please. A few days in advance at least. Last minute sessions will VERY rarely work in your favour due to our busy schedule. Please check the 'Book Online' tab to see availability or call, email or text to set up a session.

CAN YOU MAKE MY MIX SOUND LIKE ________ SONG?

Yes, if there is a certain style/vibe that you have in mind for your own song, please send a song reference of what you're looking for. Ty Danelley can replicate any effect, style or vibe if he hears an example of it.
